<hi style=afpcap>The PT-1 was the first trainer from the Consolidated design team, being essentially a refined version of the Dayton-Wright Company TW-3. Consolidated obtained the design and contract rights of the latter aircraft type when the Dayton-Wright Company was closed down by the parent company General Motors. Subsequently the PT-1 was produced as the PT-3, PT-11 and O-17 throughout the twenties and early thirties.</hi>
